As one of the only two-year colleges in Ohio to offer college-owned residence halls, Hocking College is excited to provide you with a unique experience. Although living on campus is not required, many students take advantage of this fun and educational opportunity.

A $60 non-refundable application fee is required when a housing application is submitted.
A $250 security deposit is due, in full, before a room assignment will be made.

The security deposit is non-refundable if a dorm cancellation occurs less than 30 days before the start of classes, if damage is reported in the dorm or if the room is missing items at checkout.Please allow 48-72 business hours for your Housing Application to be processed. All eligible students who have applied for housing before June 1, will receive, via their Hocking College email, their housing assignment, roommate information, and move-in time.

The security deposit is refundable, depending on the condition of the room at the end of the term. The security deposit will be credited to the applicant's housing charges should the contract be successfully fulfilled. If there is a refund, it will be mailed to the address on file with the College.
The security deposit is refundable the first term of residence if cancellation, in writing, is received 30 days before the first day of the term for which the applicant is applying.

You will then receive your room assignment and move-in information no later than July 15, 2023.

Our application allows you to indicate your first, second and third preference on dorm. It also allows you to indicate a preferred roommate (roommate requests must be mutual, one from each roommate). The application process includes a roommate matching questionnaire. It is very important that the student complete the questionnaire and not the parent.
Students who've already provided us with their preferred roommate information still need to submit this questionnaire in the event that their preferred match does not attend.

Yes.
Students living in dorms are required to have a minimum meal plan of 14 meals a week. This meal plan includes $100 in Hawk Bucks, which can be used at Rhapsody Music & Dining, the college-owned restaurant located in downtown Nelsonville.
There is an optional meal plan that is 19 meals a week with $150 in Hawk Bucks if you'd like additional meals.

No. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students living in Hocking College cannot allow visitors to enter their residence hall or their assigned dorm room at any time. Residence halls are limited to the individuals who live in them, and individual dorm rooms are limited to only the people assigned to the room. You are not allowed to have guests in your room, even if they live in your residence hall.

Student permits are good for one term only. They cost $53 for the autumn and spring terms and $35 summer term and are non-refundable. Permits can be obtained in the Cashier's Office. Students are required to complete a Vehicle Information Form when they purchase their first parking tag or change vehicles. Student permits are identified by term through a sticker attached and clearly displayed on the inside lower left-hand corner of the front windshield (driver's side). Students are permitted to park in designated student parking areas. See the Hocking College Campus Parking Brochure for exact locations.
Television services vary depending on the residence hall.
All residence halls have Wi-Fi and high-speed internet access that are ideal for streaming services.

Residence Hall applications are processed in the order they are received with required fees paid. Students are encouraged to apply six to seven months before the start of the term.
It is recommended that applications be submitted no later than at least two months before the term begins. However, there is no official deadline for application.
Roommates are assigned using a variety of information and space availability. The Director of Residence Life will make every attempt to accommodate mutual requests.

Your financial aid is applied to tuition and course fees before you can use it for paying your room and board.
That being said you cannot use financial aid to pay for your application or security deposit fees.
Under certain circumstances, your contract may be appealed. Please see your Housing Contract for more information, and complete the appeal form here.
